Marry go around the fire!

Indian weddings are elaborate and trying to photograph every significant moment seems almost humanly impossible.

We at MyFoto Studio always aim to get the best shots. Every assignment we commit our services; we pledge our experience, time, artistic and technical skills and at certain extend, our precious life! – (Of course, sometimes depending on how much our works are valued for).

All we wish to achieve is simple - that to capture every single precious moment from every nook and cranny available as we squeeze the mechanics of our digital brained cameras that in turn work hard to keep up with our burst of spontaneous creativity and our spirit to consistently perform better in quality.

We value the many "dramatic candid moments" that happens during the wedding. But most of the time, we prefer being greeted by a friendly smiling face that expresses anticipation and excitement that no words can buy.

For the bride and groom, a wedding is a lifetime commitment. After months and years of planning for their perfect wedding day, it finally happens. And not to forget the heavy cost Malaysian Indian weddings are today. Rushing the ceremony just does not do justice.

For most couples, the wedding was a way to declare their companionship to the entire world. The wedding is a cultural and emotional ritual that cements a bond that usually already exists.

During our recent wedding assignment, we were once again reminded how moving a Hindu wedding can be. The mantras employed in the ceremonies are over 2,000 years old.

A Hindu wedding comprises of several meaningful rituals. The most poignant of them all is the "Saptapathi" or the "seven steps" which the couple takes together after tying the "Mangalsutra" (sacred thread) also commonly known as "Thali" in the Malaysian Indian context.

Every step is taken invoking the Gods to shower their blessings on the couple. The bride and groom concentrate upon these seven vows as they take the seven final steps:

1. May the couple be blessed with an abundance of food.
2. May the couple be strong and complement one another.
3. May the couple be blessed with prosperity.
4. May the couple be eternally happy. (Happier couples, greater photos!)
5. May the couple be blessed with children. (Obedient children, of course!)
6. May the couple live in perfect harmony.
7. May (bride) and (groom) always be the best of friends.

It is said in Hindu philosophy that if two people walk seven steps together then they remain lifelong friends.

The ideals behind the Seven Steps acquire more significance for the fact that the married couple pray not only for their own welfare but also for the health and prosperity of all living beings and the entire Universe.
